A powerful quote reminds us that real estate success comes not from perfection, but from the courage to learn, grow, and try again.

Success Has No Syllabus

We believe, with the foolish confidence of youth, that life will reward us fairly. That the one who topped the class will top in life, that the one who struggled will always struggle, that effort will always equal success. But life is not a classroom. Life is a trickster, a mischievous storyteller who loves to plot twists.

The New Gen and Real Estate: A Slang Guide

Gen-Alpha Slang and Real Estate Scenarios

The future of property buying is here, and it communicates in “skibidi.” As Gen-Z and even the leading edge of Gen-Alpha enter the workforce, they’ll be joining the ranks of potential property buyers – and perhaps even property agents themselves! But are you, as a seasoned real estate professional, prepared to bridge the generational communication gap?

Understanding their slang isn’t just about being cool, it’s about connecting on a deeper level and truly understanding their needs. Here’s a crash course in Gen-Alpha slang to equip you for success:

Finding a “Rizzler” Property

A “rizzler” is someone with great charisma. In the world of real estate, this translates to a property that has serious curb appeal – it needs to “wow” them from the first impression.

Scenario: You meet a young couple, Sarah and Michael, looking for their first home. Their eyes light up when they see the beautifully landscaped front yard and the freshly painted exterior. “This place is a total rizzler!” whispers Sarah to Michael. You know you’re on the right track!

Avoiding “Ohio” Properties

Ohio” signifies anything weird or cringe-worthy. In real estate, it could be a property with outdated wallpaper, bizarre paint colours, or a peculiar layout.

Scenario: You’re showing a subsale home with potential, but Sarah and Michael wrinkle their noses at the dated floral wallpaper in the kitchen. “This is giving me major Ohio vibes,” mutters Michael. This might be a good opportunity to highlight the potential for renovation and how they can personalise the space.

Understanding “Fanum Tax” Concerns

The “fanum tax” refers to friends stealing food from each other. For young buyers on a budget, hidden costs can be a major concern.

Scenario: While discussing finances, Sarah mentions they’re worried about surprise expenses. You can explain the breakdown of property taxes, monthly condo maintenance fees (if applicable), and other potential expenses to ease their minds.

Creating a “Mogging” Masterpiece

“Mogging” means outshining the competition. In the competitive real estate market, your job is to help your clients find a property that “mogs” the others.

Scenario: You know there are several similar properties on the market. Highlight the unique features of your listing, like a finished basement or a stunning backyard, to make it stand out.

Gen-Z Slang and Real Estate Scenarios

Sus (Suspicious)

This term is used to express doubt or skepticism.

Scenario: A young buyer is hesitant about a property’s history. You can address their concerns by providing a detailed property report, disclosures, and any necessary inspections.

Cap (Bullshit)

This is used to express disbelief or skepticism about a claim.

Scenario: A young buyer might doubt the listed square footage of a property. You can provide accurate measurements and floor plans to dispel their doubts.

Low-key

This means something is subtle or understated.

Scenario: A young buyer is interested in a property with a low-key aesthetic. You can highlight the property’s minimalist design and tranquil atmosphere.

Vibes

This refers to the overall atmosphere or feeling of a place.

Scenario: A young buyer wants a property with good “vibes.” You can emphasize the property’s positive energy, natural light, and overall ambiance.

Flexing

This means showing off or bragging.

Scenario: A young buyer might be interested in a property that allows them to “flex” on social media. You can highlight the property’s unique features, such as a rooftop terrace or a luxurious pool.

By understanding these Gen-Alpha slang terms, you can bridge the communication gap and connect with younger buyers on a deeper level. Remember, it’s not just about the property; it’s about finding the perfect fit for their lifestyle and budget. So, ditch the real estate jargon and embrace the language of the future – after all, a little “skibidi” can go a long way in closing the deal!
