Stumbled upon this little ‘hidden’ restaurant called Yuet Jia Yong Tau Fu, tucked away near The Strand Mall. Well it’s not exactly hidden as the lot is actually facing the main road towards Dataran Sunway. But everyone knows the ‘good stuffs’ are all located in Dataran Sunway, so yeah, the Strand area can be often overlooked when one is looking to find a good meal. This family-run spot, Yuet Jian Yong Tau Foo open since 2019, definitely has an undeniable charm that draws you in.
I’m not usually a Yong Tau Fu fanatic, but their Fried Wontons? Oh, my goodness. They’re crispy on the outside, bursting with flavour on the inside. It’s the kind of dish that makes you to dig in more, and more, with satisfaction. I could’ve easily made a meal out of them.
Their menu is a tantalising mix of familiar and intriguing options. I’m already planning my next visit to tackle those Black Vinegar Pork Trotters. Something about that combination of sweet, sour, and savoury just calls to me. And don’t even get me started on the idea of their Cabbage with fish paste. I’m picturing cabbages, stuffed with homemade tofu fish paste and steamed-cooked with soy sauce broth. Appetite growing again …
