Revamped MM2H Program: Introducing Platinum, Gold, and Silver Categories

KUALA LUMPUR: In an announcement made on December 15, 2023, Tourism, Arts, and Culture (Motac) Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing revealed exciting developments in the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) program. The latest update introduces three new categories, marking a significant relaxation of the program.

Under the revised guidelines, the MM2H program is now accessible to individuals aged 30 years and above. To facilitate the application process, interested parties are required to apply exclusively through licensed MM2H agents authorized by the Tourism, Arts, and Culture Ministry under the Tourism Industry Act 1992.

The program has been categorised into Platinum, Gold, and Silver, each with its own specific set of requirements. These changes open up new avenues for those looking to establish Malaysia as their second home.

Here is the breakdown of the categories:

PLATINUM

Platinum Category Requirements:

  • Financial Prerequisites: Fixed deposit of RM5 million (USD1.05 million).
  • Withdrawal: Applicants can withdraw a maximum of 50% of the deposit after one year for property purchases valued at RM1.5 million and above, healthcare, and tourism activities in Malaysia.
  • Residency Obligation: Platinum applicants must reside in Malaysia for a cumulative total of at least 60 days per year.
  • Age-Specific Residency:
    • For applicants aged 30 to 49 years old, residency can be fulfilled by the principal, partners, or dependents.
  • Permanent Resident (PR) Status: Platinum category MM2H applicants are eligible to apply for Permanent Resident (PR) status after obtaining their Platinum pass.

GOLD

Gold Category Requirements:

  • Financial Prerequisites: Fixed deposit of RM2 million (USD420,800).
  • Withdrawal: Applicants can withdraw a maximum of 50% of the deposit after one year for property purchases valued at RM750,000 and above, healthcare, and tourism activities in Malaysia.
  • Residency Obligation: Gold MM2H pass holders must reside in Malaysia for a cumulative total of at least 60 days per year.
  • Age-Specific Residency:
    • For applicants aged 30 to 49 years old, residency can be fulfilled by the principal, partners, or dependents.
  • Pass Validity: The Gold MM2H pass is valid for 15 years.
  • Multiple Entry Visas (MEV): MEVs are granted to the principal and dependents.
  • Renewal: The Gold MM2H pass can be renewed.

SILVER

Silver Category Requirements:

  • Financial Prerequisites: Fixed deposit of RM500,000 (USD105,000).
  • Withdrawal: Applicants can withdraw a maximum of 50% of the deposit after one year for property purchases valued at RM750,000 and above, healthcare, and tourism activities in Malaysia.
  • Residency Obligation: Silver MM2H pass holders must reside in Malaysia for a cumulative total of at least 60 days per year.
  • Age-Specific Residency:
    • For applicants aged 30 to 49 years old, residency can be fulfilled by the principal, partners, or dependents.
  • Pass Validity: The Silver MM2H pass is valid for five years.
  • Multiple Entry Visas (MEV): MEVs are granted to the principal and dependents.
  • Renewal: The Silver MM2H pass can be renewed.
